Learn-To-Row
Several times a year, usually April and May, we hold Learn-To-Row classes. These classes are two four hour sessions on Saturday and Sunday morning. During the Saturday morning session, new rowers:
- are introduced to the club, to the sport, and to the equipment
- meet the erg, and learn the correct erging stroke
- meet the rowboxes on dock, and learn the correct stroke with oars
- get out in a shell and get their first on-water experience
- get back on the water in two sessions
- are filmed on-water and later get to see the video and are critiqued (videos are later added to YouTube so they can review themselves)
- are shown videos of good rowing technique
After the Learn-To-Row classes, the new rowers are invited to join our regular training sessions and we continue their training.
The Learn-To-Row sessions cost $75 for the two days. After the Learn-To-Row sessions, new rowers get a free month of rowing with us while they decide if they like the sport, and decide if they want to continue rowing with us.
