New Members

25th March 2007

We are always willing to accept new members. Everyone. We do sweep rowing and sculling. We take experienced rowers, beginners, and never-been-in-a-shell before rowers. We always need coxswains, so if you can cox, we'll welcome you with open arms. Rowers, scullers, coxes, launch drivers, ergers, helpers - if you want to join the club, contact us and we'll make you welcome.

  • If you're an active experienced rower, we'll slot you straight into our crew schedules.
  • If you're an ex-rower or a beginner, we'll initially slot you into our training schedules, and then you'll move to our more experienced crews.
  • If you've never been in a shell before, we'll start at the start. You'll spend a few sessions on land, getting familiar with the gear and the basic rowing motions. Then you'll get initial training sessions in a shell. And then you'll be merged into our training crews.
  • Several times a year, we hold our Learn-To-Row program. If you miss one, we can often fold you into the club with lessons during regular times. Contact us and we'll do our best to accommodate you.

We're in Chesapeake. We row under the Great Bridge Bridge. (Directions) We row between April and October (When), so come up to the Great Bridge Bridge and watch for us.

Check out the photo galleries on the left. Look at those photos. We're a club that likes to have fun. We train, we race when we can, we socialise, we erg, we have fun. If we look like the kind of people you'd like to hang out with, then contact us and come along and start having fun with us.

If you want to check out the club, turn up one morning or evening and introduce yourself. Or email us and arrange a meeting.

We take new members any time. We try and group new members into twos and threes and do initial training as a group, but we're flexible. Twice a year we hold membership drives and learn to row classes. If you want to join those classes, email us and sign up.
